History
Tweetmondo was launched in May 2009 as a side project by two UK based entrepreneurs that thought it would be cool to show Twitter user's in a map. Its name comes from the words Tweet and Mondo, which means World in Italian.
The original scope was much simpler than what we have today, and since is launch Tweetmondo has evolved considerably as we got feedback from users and new ideas were tried.
Although a lot has been improved, there is still a long way ahead, as we are constantly working on new features, and if you visit Tweetmondo often, you will probably notice changes happening on a weekly basis.
Our Goal
We have one simple goal:
To know where real people are in real time.
In order to reach this goal, we have a number of features in the pipeline that intend to improve the sources of users location data, its accuracy and time resolution (interval between location updates).
